A man who was called by his girlfriend after an alleged argument with a former partner was arrested and charged with murder per reports.

Arrested was Chad Keene who is being charged with the murder of his girlfriend, identified as Karli Elliott.

According to an affidavit obtained by WKMG-TV, Elliot allegedly got into an argument with her ex-boyfriend outside a Daytona Beach 7-Eleven on Tuesday morning.

After the spat, the 30-year-old woman reportedly called Keene who arrived at the scene carrying a gun.

A gunshot was heard afterward but the intended target, the ex-boyfriend, was not shot. Instead, it was Elliott was the one who got hit.

Keene was allegedly on his cellphone talking to another person at the time of the shooting. According to the person on the other line, a woman could be heard yelling to Keene that “you shot me.”

The unnamed individual added that another man could be heard shouting “you shot her.”

In the affidavit, Keene allegedly told authorities that it was an accident. He admitted that he was at the scene of the crime but never admitted to committing the shooting.

Elliott was brought to a hospital but later on died.

"So the boyfriend...confronts the ex-boyfriend and that is when one shot is fired," Daytona Beach Police Chief Jakari Young said in a report by Fox 35. "We don't believe that Karli was the intended victim. We believe the ex-boyfriend was the intended victim."

After the shooting, Keene fled the scene. Police secured a search warrant and went to the 37-year-old’s home. There, authorities found an ID and ammunition that matched the casings found at the scene of the shooting.

Keene was later found on the passenger side of a vehicle and was reportedly arrested without incident.

The 37-year-old has been charged with second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is being held without bond.
