Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton divorced their respective partners, Bush singer Gavin Rossdale and Miranda Lambert, in 2015 and also come out as a couple in the same year. Since then, rumors about the two have been swirling around, covering a few exciting topics such as Stefani already pregnant with Shelton’s child or that the two might have already secretly married.

Another topic about the pair that crops up regularly is that Stefani is forcing Shelton to lose weight. The issue was once again resurrected a few weeks ago, which prompted fact-checking site Gossip Cop to collate the instances where the topic has been touched by various publications.

March 2017

The earliest instance seems to have happened more than two years ago. On March 2017, Globe reported that Stefani banned Shelton from drinking so he would lose some weight. According to the story, the “Hollaback Girl” singer issued an ultimatum to her boyfriend to either choose her or continue guzzling alcohol.

It was later debunked by Gossip Cop via Stefani’s rep, who confirmed that Globe’s story is “not true.” In fact, the couple was spotted drinking together a few times after the article was printed, which negates the story’s premise.

December 2017

The issue resurfaced a few months later. On December 2017, Enquirer printed a similar story once more where Stefani reportedly threatened Shelton that he’ll lose her unless he’ll lose some weight.

However, the publication made a few tweaks this time. For instance, Shelton reportedly lost several pounds after he divorced Lambert but gained them back when he was with Stefani. The story was also debunked because Stefani’s rep confirmed that its “nonsense.”

January 2019

Just this year, National Enquirer resurrected the story again. In an article titled “Gwen To Blake: Get Fit Or Get Out!” published on Jan. 18, Stefani is reportedly concerned about Shelton’s unhealthy lifestyle.

“Gwen is urging Blake to cut back on booze and burgers and watch what he’s eating and drinking,” the publication quoted an unnamed insider. “But Gwen is furious that Blake doesn’t take better care of himself — creating the possibility he might not live long enough to see their child grow up.” However, Stefani’s spokesperson later said that the story is “untrue.”

September 2019

The latest version came out just a few weeks ago. Globe Magazine printed an article titled “Gwen’s Beef With Blake,” which came out on Sep. 9, and detailed how Stefani reportedly banned Blake from bad carbs and meat so he’ll lose at least 20 pounds.

“Gwen’s told him the way to lose it is to stay the hell away from meat and bad carbs,” the magazine quoted an unnamed tipster. “Blake’s up to 250 pounds and wants to lose a minimum of 20 by the end of summer.”

However, Gossip Cop debunked the story as Stefani actually baked a pepperoni pizza for Shelton’s birthday last June. While getting in shape is a healthy thing to do, Stefani is probably not too obsessed with it to the point of issuing ultimatums to her man.
