A 71-year-old man died after a 15-year-old boy punched him in the face after an argument ensued between them in Chelsea.

The victim, identified as 71-year-old Brad Boonshaft, was on Eighth Ave. near W. 25th St. in Chelsea when he got into an argument with the boy, a stranger to him, just before 4 p.m. on Sept. 15. As the verbal argument escalated, the teen punched Boonshaft multiple times in the face until the victim lost consciousness and collapsed onto the ground, Daily News reported.

Following the incident, officers from the 10th Precinct responded to a 911 call regarding an assault at 288 Eighth Avenue. When emergency services responded to the scene, they found Boonshaft lying on the ground unconscious and suffering from a massive head injury. He was immediately transported to Bellevue Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

After the attack, the teen attacker was taken into custody at the scene and charged with assaulting a victim over 65. The officers are withholding the name of the suspect since he is underage.

After undergoing treatment at the hospital for over six months, Boonshaft succumbed to his injuries and died on Sunday, Oct. 30, Yahoo News reported.

The city Medical Examiner deemed Boonshaft’s death a homicide since the injury that resulted in his death occurred during the fight with the teen boy. Following Boonshaft's death, officers added that the charges against the teen may be upgraded at his next Family Court appearance.

In a similar but unrelated incident, a 17-year-old boy reportedly killed an 85-year-old man after the victim's dog barked at him in Dwarka, Gujarat, India on Friday, March. 18, as previously reported.

On Friday, law enforcement received a call alerting them about a disturbance at a residential area and responded to the scene. The wife of the 85-year-old victim, Ashok, claimed that their 17-year-old neighbor had forcibly entered their house and attacked her husband, mercilessly thrashing him with a rod.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the brutal attack was spurred by the teen's anger towards the elderly victim’s dog who had allegedly barked at the boy. Infuriated by the dog's barking, the 17-year-old suspect reportedly began beating the animal with a metal rod. When Ashok confronted the teen and tried to intervene in the attack, the juvenile also began thrashing the elderly man, leaving him severely injured.

Following this, the officers arrested the boy. On March. 20, Ashok, who suffered grievous injuries in the attack, succumbed to his injuries and died.
