Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the 29-year-old newly elected New York congresswoman, has been making headlines for being the youngest woman to serve in Congress. But while her professional endeavours are widely known, Ocasio Cortez is very tight lipped when it comes to her private life- preferring to keep it away from the paparazzi.

In fact, she is so serious about it that many of you may not even know that she is in a relationship with a web developer, Riley Roberts, who has been silently yet constantly supporting her throughout the years. Here are six things we know about Riley Roberts:

1. He has a budding career of his own

Roberts is the head of marketing at HomeBinder.com, an institution which helps people in managing the maintenance of their homes. A multi-tasker like his girlfriend, he also works as a consultant with tech startups and helps them in earning revenue using marketing and development.

2. The couple met in college

In her past interviews, Ocasio-Cortez has described Roberts as being her supporter for a long time. Apparently, the duo met “at a weekly Friday-afternoon conversation hosted by the dean at BU”.

3. He has always been her biggest supporter

Ocasio-Cortez had previously mentioned how there was a time when she didn’t get her salary for months at a time and yet Riley stood by her. “We’re kind of just dealing with the logistics of it day by day, but I’ve really been just kind of squirrelling away and then hoping that gets me to January,” she said.

4. He attended her swearing-in as a congresswoman

Being the amazing boyfriend that he is, Roberts was present at Ocasio-Cortez's swearing-in ceremony, along with her brother Gabriel and her mother Blanca, in order to support his girlfriend.

5. While the couple prefers to keep their private life quiet, Riley makes occasional appearances on Ocasio-Cortez's social media handles

Like in the Instagram announcement that she'd be running for Congress, he can be seen in the back as the tall bearded man in the third image. She also took to Twitter to call out a Daily Mail reporter who went as far as going to Riley’s relative’s home and offered money in exchange of slanderous stories against the congresswoman.

6. And apparently, he has already made her mom his biggest fan!

"I love him. He is the most loving, supporting person I've seen. He helped her tremendously during the election," Blanca told the Daily Mail. "They've been together for four years now after they reconnected from a college breakup. I know they love children, and they do very well with children from the family. So, I hope they get married soon."
