Casa Modelo announced the launch of its newest ready-to-serve chelada, Modelo Chelada Tamarindo Picante. This happens to be the second chelada flavor to join the Casa Modelo portfolio. A company that is been brewing distinctive high quality beer since 1925.

The company is well known for being the importer of the recognized Budweiser, Bud Light and O’Doul’s beers in Mexico. It also imports the Chinese Tsingtao brand and the Danish beer Carlsberg.

They wanted to celebrate the traditional Mexican ingredients, like chipotle peppers and tamarind, for the same reason the Modelo Chelada Tamarindo Picante offers to fans of Modelo a spicy yet sweet taste profile that embraces authentic flavor combinations.

For those still wondering what a chelada is in first place, it's a beverage created by adding the juice of limes to Mexican beer. The rim of the glass is typically salted. Many variation of this drink exist, some of them have Tabasco and Worcestershire sauce. In fact, some people describe it as a Bloody Mary that’s made with beer instead of vodka, but that's not the case. Actually, the Bloody Mary ingredients (tomato juice, Bloody Mary mix, and Clamato) are not traditional Mexican michelada ingredients.

The innovative new Modelo Chelada Tamarindo Picante is a blend of beer, tomato, salt and lime, along with tamarind and chipotle peppers. The result is a ready-to-serve "cerveza preparada" and will be available at convenience stores nationwide starting March 2017, for a suggested price of $2.99 for a 24 oz. can.

The best part of this concoction is that, just like tequila, the "cerveza preparada" is not only the perfect cocktail for Cinco de Mayo celebrations, but it's also a great base to create delicious recipes for any occasion.
