“Aquaman 2” is a sequel to the 2018 film of the same title that starred Jason Momoa. The original movie was a huge blockbuster that brought around $1.1 billion to Warner Bros. The said number is its total earnings worldwide so no wonder they immediately work for a follow-up.

But then again, Warner Bros. has not released an official announcement yet with regards to the production of “Aquaman 2.” However, fans got the confirmation news that they are longing for from one of its cast members. Patrick Wilson who played Ocean Master, the villain in the film, relayed that the second movie installment is coming.

The actor was interviewed by The Hollywood Reporter and that was the time, he talked about “Aquaman 2.” He did not directly say that the sequel is confirmed but rather, he shared that he was “briefed” for the upcoming sequel and was told about his role.

“I’m slightly briefed on Orm-related matters and I just throw a little dart here and there,” Wilson told THR. “I’ll say, ‘So, what about this?’ and James Wan will say, ‘Well, this is what I’m thinking.’ I can tell you that even his concepts for Aquaman 2 are pushing it even further.”

The actor further shared that although he wants to know more about “Aquaman 2,” he stopped himself from asking more details from their director. He explained that he has huge respect for Wan and is aware that he can only know limited details until they actually start working on the set.

"I want to know everything," he said. "I also have great respect for him and the process to know that I'm okay staying out of it until it's late in the game."

In any case, while this is good news to the fans of “Aquaman,” there is a bit of sad news because not all the original cast members may return. One of the major cast, Amber Heard who played Mera, is in danger of being removed from the film as fans have launched a petition to take her out from the cast lineup.

As of the moment, more than 39,000 people have already signed up the petition that was posted on charge.org. The fans want her expelled from “Aquaman 2” after she was exposed to be a domestic abuser. Johnny Depp filed a $50 million lawsuit against his ex-wife for a number of abuses he suffered from her hands when they were still together.

Meanwhile, “Aquaman 2” is predicted to be released on Dec. 16, 2022.
