What started as a cartoon James Bond spoof has turned into a big surprise even to its hardcore fans. “Archer” has now evolved, and thanks’ to its main character being in a coma, it has even tried out different genres in the past two seasons, starting with “Dreamland.”

Fans can expect a lot of new things introduced into the series in its upcoming 10th season as well. In fact, the series’ plot will try out a futuristic sci-fi theme next season, which was already confirmed by executive Matt Thompson. “Next season is similar in the fact that they are all kind of cloistered together, but they’re going to be cloistered together on a spaceship,” he revealed during last year’s Comic-Con.

Comedienne-actress Aisha Tyler, who voices the character Lana Kane in the series, even hinted that it won’t just be a regular and sometimes boring space voyage. There would be “[w]arp drive, and laser sex, and also robot sex,” Tyler revealed. It will have “[b]oth of the kinds of futuristic sex, the laser sex, and robot sex. In the future those are the kinds you’ll be having, is laser and robot,” she added.

Of course, anything is possible in “Archer” Season 10 as the plot won’t be constrained by what previously happened in the past seasons. At this point, the main character, Archer, is still in a coma after suffering from a serious injury in Season 7. Thus, everything that happened since “Dreamland” is just all in his head while he is still lying in the hospital bed, and it does not really need to connect to the previous storyline.

Just like in “Dreamland,” next season's main characters will still be present and will often play surprising roles. For instance, actress Amber Nash, who voices Human Resource Director Pam Poovey, revealed that her character won’t even be human next season. Instead, Pam will become a gigantic dump-truck-sized rock monster.

Meanwhile, “Archer” creator Adam Reed said that one of the main advantages of putting the main character in a coma is that it opened up a lot of options on where the series could be heading. In fact, Reed revealed that the team could even do some Bible-based plot, such as Archer playing as King Herod.

With all the available options for its plot, does this mean that the show might not end with its upcoming tenth season and an “Archer” Season 11 might happen? Unfortunately, there is no confirmation for an eleventh season renewal at the moment, which could also mean that its continuation still remains a possibility.

FXX has not yet announced an actual release date for “Archer” Season 10. But the consensus is that it will be out by April. Be sure to stay tuned for more updates on this series.
