Diego Schoening has been tapped to replace Omar Germenos on Telemundo's morning show "Un Nuevo Día," a source close to the production told LatinTimes. Schoening is no stranger to the breakfast show as he had guest co-hosted with Germenos himself and the rest of the team back in June. It is also not surprising as Diego maintains a close friendship with Magda Rodriguez, a producer on the show.

Schoening is best known for being the longest lasting member of musical group, Timbiriche. In the band he shared the stage with the likes of Thalia and Paulina Rubio. This is not the first hosting gig for Diego and he was most recently the anchor of entertainment show, "Estrellas Hoy" for Estrella TV, which at the time was also produced by Rodriguez. He was replaced late last year by Fabián Lavalle.

Earlier this week the Spanish network announced Ana Maria Canseco would join the team as a permanent host starting in September. The additions of Canseco and Schoening are meant to boost interesting in the talk show as they have struggled to gain traction against Univision's "Despierta América." It has also been rumored that the cast shakeup is not complete and more heads will roll.

What do you think of Diego Schoening joining "Un Nuevo Dia?" Will you be watching?
