Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal, who also plays at Juventus in Europa, has been involved in a car accident on a high way just outside the Chile capital, Santiago. Early reports suggest that there may have been alcohol in the Chilean international’s blood. By the look of the photographs, player soccer star, Vidal, has had a very lucky escape after he was involved in a very serious car crash Tuesday.

The 28 years old says he is fine and is expected to go before a local judge on Wednesday. The Arsenal and Manchester United target was pivotal in Chile’s tie 3-3 with Mexico in the Copa America competition previous evening. Vidal scored twice for his team. The player was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.

In a YouTube video posted on his Twitter account, Arturo Vidal who actually plays for Italian club Juventus confirmed he had been involved in a collision and said nobody had been injured and that it, was not his fault. However, the Chilean national police confirmed that “The driver of the red vehicle was under the influence of alcohol”.

Given his importance to the Chilean team, Vidal’s involvement in the crash, has brought some withering criticism from local media specialist. “This kind of situations does not happen in Europe. I do not understand Vidal”, said coach Jorge Sampaoli, “It is very serious to let this happen right in the middle of the Copa America. Chile has “zero tolerance “approach to drink driving. Vidal could face three years in prison, and a driving ban. The Copa America hosts face Bolivia in their final group stage game on Friday. He may no play again durgin this Copa America.
