The Boston Red Sox finished the 2012 season with 93 losses and while they were expected by many to enter a rebuilding phase heading into the 2013 campaign, the Sox and first-year manager John Farrell had other ideas. Completing the 2013 regular season with a 97-65 record, Boston claimed the American League East title and home field advantage throughout the MLB playoffs. Thanks to incredible pitching and one of the most consistent offenses in professional baseball, the Red Sox are now one win away from advancing to the American League Championship Series and they'll look to move on with a Game 3 victory in the ALDS over the Tampa Bay Rays.

Despite the fact that his team has been completely outplayed in multiple areas of the game, Rays manager Joe Maddon has faith that his club will be able to recover from the current 0-2 hole because the team has already won three elimination games prior to the current showdown with the Red Sox. Needing a strong pitching performance from Game 3 starter Alex Cobb - who posted an 11-3 record in 2013 - Maddon has visions of his team taking the next two contests at home before returning to Boston for a decisive Game 5.

"We just went through a week of backs against the wall, so it's not new to us," the Rays manager said. It's going to be difficult. There's no question it's going to be difficult ... but I don't think it's impossible by any means. We've been in this boat in the past and we've forced Game 5s in those situations, also. So Boston this time of the year is kind of lovely, and I'm looking forward to coming back in a few days."

One win away from the club's first appearance in the ALCS since 2008, Sox manager John Farrell is proud of his team's success but notes that the club can't get ahead of themselves since the task of closing out the Rays won't be easy.

"That's been a consistent approach that we've taken throughout the course of the year. We haven't gotten ahead of ourselves," Boston manager John Farrell said of taking one game at a time. "We haven't carried on a thought or a feeling of what has taken place the night or the series before. And I think everyone is eager to get back on the field tomorrow."

Sending twelve-game winner Clay Buchholz to the mound for Game 3, the Sox hope another strong performance comes from their pitching and hitting since the team is one nine inning game away from the 2013 American League Championship Series.
