As Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez continues to prepare for his September 14 showdown against the undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr., the Guadalajara native's confidence in his ability continues to grow as he too will put an undefeated resume on the line. While Mayweather -- a champion currently posing a career record of 44-0 -- is certainly capable of maintaining a clear sheet, 23-year-old Canelo Alvarez (42-0-1) packs a pretty powerful set of skills as well, something that should set the stage for a well-fought bout.

The junior middleweight champion, Canelo Alvarez is set for the upcoming fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas where he will face his toughest opponent yet in eight-time champion Floyd Mayweather Junior. While Mayweather has never been bashful in proclaiming his greatness, the man he'll face in September is certainly capable of ending his personal perfection. And although Canelo knows the type of fighter Floyd is, he understands that staying within his own fighting routine will be his best chance for victory.

"I'm a fighter with great mental strength," Alvarez told Yahoo Sports recently. "I'm not going to fight the fight that Mayweather wants. I'm going to fight the fight that I need to. There have been numerous tips and numerous people offering advice. I appreciate it, because it all comes with good feelings from the heart. But some of it we'll apply and some things we won't. We know what we need to accomplish."

The highly anticipated bout will be available for viewers through pay-per-view with a $65 price for those choosing to watch in standard definition while HD fights will go for $75 per buyer. According to Badlefthook.com, the upcoming fight has the potential to crack the all-time PPV buy mark of 2.4 million as well as the $134 million total revenue mark.

Though Canelo Alvarez will certainly have his fair share of supporters leading up to and during the fight with Floyd, even those closely associated with Mexican boxing champ don't give him much of a chance to derail FMJ's undefeated record even though Canelo holds a size and strength advantage.

"I hope he wins as it would be marvelous for Mexican boxing if he were to win but I think it will be difficult," Mexican boxing expert Nacho Beristain said recently. "I've always thought Mayweather was a fighter who is totally defensive. He's smart, very intelligent and in a totally different category. I think if he prepares very well, I think he will be the winner."

Despite the doubters, Alvarez knows he is capable of taking down one of the best fighters in the history of the sport. Noting that he continues to learn more and more each time he sets foot between the ropes, Alvarez is anxious to give his fans the very best performance of his fantastic career.

"Every fight leaves me something different and I learned from each of my fights," he said recently. "The public has not yet seen the best of me, and I need to beat Mayweather to realize it."
