A couple reportedly died after falling six floors from a Bronx building on Saturday, Aug. 6, following an alleged physical fight.

The unnamed couple, identified as a 35-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman, allegedly got into a physical confrontation and fell from a sixth-floor apartment in a Cruger Avenue building at Pelham Parkway South in Morris Park just outside the Mosholu-Pelham Greenway around 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 6.

The couple was found dead in the building’s rear courtyard after a construction worker who was having coffee nearby heard the two fall and raced over to see what happened, the Daily News reported.

“He was having coffee right there,” neighbor Frank Mussemeci, 50, said. “And they heard a big noise like a piece of steel banging on the ground, like ‘boom.’”

Investigating officers who responded to the scene suspect that their couple's death was a result of a fight that turned deadly and not part of a suicide pact.

“Somebody said there was screaming,” said a neighbor Steve Iurilli, 63. “I saw a bag on the fire escape, maybe she was trying to leave.”

Building worker Harold Johnson said that he encountered the duo around 10:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug 5. He added that he had asked the couple if everything was OK because their body language seemed odd.

“I see his eyes are really wide like he’s angry, and he didn’t answer me, he just pulled his wife and keep going. And that was it,” Johnson said.

The couple’s children were left inside the apartment unharmed as they plummeted to their death, New York Post reported.

“They were super nice kids, two little boys,” neighbor Giovanni Resto said. “They were playing with my puppy two days ago. The parents were really nice as well. The woman was super nice. The guy was a little standoffish, but a nice family.”

Meanwhile, an older woman, believed to be the dead man’s mother, collapsed on the sidewalk in front of the building after she was told no one survived the fall. Even though neighbors tried to console the woman, she couldn’t be calmed.

“Today was his birthday, his mom told me. Her family is in Albania,” Building porter Sajdi Perkaj said.

“ I see them every day together,” she added. “We didn’t recognize there was something wrong. They lived here for three months.”

Perkaj said that the man was often angry, “like mean,” and the woman was “quiet.” She added that she believes that the couple had been married for six years and that they moved into the building only three months ago.
