Season 10 of “Criminal Minds” continues tonight and with October 31 approaching the series is set to celebrate it’s annual Halloween episode, and in addition to being extra spooky, the holiday special is also set to be a family affair. Well at least for Thomas Gibson. Gibson, who portrays, Aaron Hotchner, the unit chef of the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit on “Criminal Minds,” is doing double duty with episode 5 by not only acting but also directing. In addition to serving as actor, and director, Gibson will also be playing dad on set, because his real life children will be appearing in the all new Halloween episode.

The title of episode 5 is “Boxed In” leaving fans feeling claustrophobic already, but the synopsis reveals that this UnSub has very specific targets—children on Halloween. The synopsis for “Boxed In” states that the BAU will have to travel to San Diego to investigate “a mysterious case in which a boy, who had disappeared on Halloween one year prior, returns, as another boy disappears.” The team who is are attempting to race against the “trick or treat” clock must work quickly in order to “prevent another boy from experiencing the same fate.”

In an interview with TV Line, Gibson explained just how his three children, Travis, Agatha, and J.P. were involved in the making and production of episode 5, “Boxed In.” The actor stated, “we’ve got a guy abducting kids annually on Halloween for some strange reason, and after we find the kid that he’s released on the 30th we fly to San Diego on the 31st to keep him from grabbing another one.” He continued revealing that his son Travis plays the best friend of the child, who was kidnapped.

Gibson also revealed that his daughter, Agatha is in it as well, “as a trick-or-treater, and my oldest son, J.P., who’s a budding filmmaker, shadowed me during prep and shooting and post, and also wrote a song on the radio that our bad guy’s listening to while he’s medicating himself.” Tune in tonight to watch the all-new Halloween themed episode of “Criminal Minds” on CBS and check out the promo video for episode 5 “Boxed In” below!
