Though most of the talk surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo is on the Real Madrid stars ability to score goals at an unearthly rate, the two-time Ballon d’Or winner also holds a knack for helping those in need. Los Blancos currently lead the competitive Spanish Primera Division and own a 6-1 aggregate lead over Schalke 04 in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 but while the team continues to prepare for the final push of the 2013-2014 season, CR7 was recently focusing on helping 10-month-old Erik Ortiz Cruz get through a grueling brain procedure.

According to Yahoo Sports, the former Manchester United star donated $83,000 to the family Cruz so the young child could undergo brain surgery. The tiny Real Madrid fan is diagnosed with cortical dyslplasia, an extremely rare brain disorder that can cause upwards of 30 seizures per day. While the international superstar was only asked to donate a few shirts and a pair of personal boots, Ronaldo instead decided to front the cost for the procedure in addition to donating the popular Madrid paraphernalia. The club merchandise will now work in raising money for the family since follow-up tests will run roughly $8,300 apiece.

Recently named as the richest player in world football – with an estimated wealth of over $205 million – Ronaldo has been known to help those in need throughout his esteemed career. In 2012, the Portuguese National team star paid the full freight so a young cancer patient could receive the proper treatment, another indication that the celebrity figure is not all about himself. Having another brilliant season on the pitch this season as well, things continue to stay on course for one of the premier players and gentlemen in all of professional sports.
