Season 18 of “Dancing With The Stars” is almost upon us, and the contestants were finally announced today on “Good Morning America.” The show will return March 17 on ABC with Tom Bergeron as a host, but Erin Andrews filling in for Brook Burke-Charvet. Besides a new female host, the show will also have another twist. Although the pairings of celebs and pro partner have been made, you shouldn’t get too attached to them since they might change throughout the season. Viewers will have a chance to vote on which pro they think each celeb should be paired with, and the partnerships may get switched based on the results.
Among the famous names stepping on the dance floor are Olympic gold medalists, Meryl Davis and Charlie White, who after 17 years of partnership will face each other in a friendly competition. Another Olympian joining is Amy Purdy, a U.S. Paralympic snowboarder and "Amazing Race" star. When she was younger she was diagnosed with Neisseria meningitis and had both legs amputated. She will be the first contestant with prosthetic legs. Continuing with the athletes, Diana Nyad and Sean Avery will too be joining the cast this season.
In the acting department we have two 90’s sweethearts, Candace Cameron Bure from “Full House” and Danica McKellar, Winnie on “Wonder Years.” Also an actor, Billy Dee Williams, who played Lando Calrissian in “Star Wars” and is the oldest contestant of the season, at age 76. Comedian Drew Carey, who now hosts “The Price Is Right” will also be competing, and so is NeNe Leakes, from “The Real Housewives Of Atlanta” and “Glee.” We can’t wait till she brings her sass to the dance floor!
Now in the music business we have two new sensations. Australian pop star Cody Simpson and Big Time Rush actor/singer James Maslow. As you can see, this season promises to be great and we can’t wait until March 17 for it to start! Check out the pairings of the celebs with their pro partners, and the return of “The Macks!”
