In light of the Texas school shooting massacre, concerns are growing about the number of cases similar to it. And based on new data, it appears kids have been shot more compared to police officers on duty.

A look at the Officer Down Memorial Page shows that there have been 20 officers who have been killed after being involved in shooting incidents in 2020 alone. These are officers who are eventually honored for their service.

However, 24 students have been killed as a result of shootings at school according to data coming from Education Week.

"School shootings, terrifying to students, educators, parents and communities, always reignite polarizing debates about gun rights and school safety," the report read.

Education Week shows that there were 27 school shootings in 2022 and 119 in total since 2018.

In the recent Robb Elementary School shooting along, 19 kids were killed by an 18-year-old gunman along with two adults. This incident lifted the number of children killed in school shootings above the number of police officers shot and killed in the line of duty.

Other incidents that contributed to the numbers include an attack at Tanglewood Middle School, Greenville, South Carolina, on Mar. 31.

A 12-year-old student was shot and killed at the school. He was the youngest aged student who had been killed in a school shooting in 2022 at the time.

Aside from that, there was also the shooting incident at the East High School in Des Moines, Iowa on Mar. 7. A 15-year-old boy was killed while two female students were injured.

As a result of these incidents, US President Joe Biden feels that it is time to act against gun manufacturing companies.

"I am sick and tired of it. We have to act. And don't tell me we can't have an impact on this carnage," Biden said.
