Gamers who have subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online are in for a treat with three retro games going live for their enjoyment.

This comes after the Nintendo Switch Online’s NES and SNES apps were updated, adding “Rival Turf!,” “Congo’s Caper” (for Super Nintendo) and “Pinball” (for NES).

Although these three games may not exactly be the high-profile games that most may be familiar with, they were the big ones some years ago. Particularly “Pinball” one of the iconic arcade games from the 80s, is something that both the young and old can certainly enjoy.

These may be not big updates but are notable as far as efforts on the end of Nintendo since it released NES. “Pinball” has been made available in a variety of formats and it is a bit surprising that it has only come out just now.

“Rival Turf!” is perhaps the popular game title of the three, a game that offers beat-em-up action similar to that of “Final Fight.”

“Congo’s Caper” is a 2D game that has links to “Joe & Mac.” It should be a big addition for fans who have been looking for it, considering it is only now that it was made available since the original release of SNES.

From here, it will be interesting what other retro games may follow. One title that comes to mind is “Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.” It came out in 1996 and is still well-loved by gamers. Hence, it is considered one of the high-profile games still missing from the roster of SNES apps.

Licensing issues could be a reason for its absence, a reason why it has yet to be released. Although it was made available on the Virtual Console before, it will be anyone’s guess if this is one of the future retro games that Nintendo will be offering to its subscribers.
