Homeland Security officials are lashing out at "Hacks" star Hannah Einbinder after she ended her 2025 Emmy Awards acceptance speech with a scathing political jab that included the words: "F– ICE."
In a statement to TMZ, Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin condemned the remarks, calling them dangerous and inflammatory. "How ugly. Such demonization is inspiring violence against our ICE law enforcement, who are facing a 1,000% increase in assaults against them," McLaughlin said.
"As this woman fans the flames of hatred, our brave law enforcement will continue enforcing the rule of law and protecting Americans," she added.
Einbinder's explosive sign-off, "Go Birds, F– ICE, and Free Palestine" was partially censored during CBS's live broadcast but quickly spread online in uncensored clips. The line has divided the internet, drawing cheers from activists and harsh criticism from conservative commentators and law enforcement groups.

The DHS rebuke comes amid rising tensions surrounding public criticism of ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement), especially from artists and celebrities. While free speech advocates defend Einbinder's right to express her views, officials at Homeland Security are warning that public rhetoric like hers may be contributing to a growing number of physical attacks against immigration officers.
In the Emmys press room, Einbinder defended her remarks.
"I have friends in Gaza who are working as frontline workers, as doctors right now in the north of Gaza, to provide care for pregnant women and for school children in the refugee camps," she told reporters.
As a Jewish woman, she also said she felt compelled to make a distinction between her faith and the political actions of the Israeli government. "I feel like it is my obligation as a Jewish person to distinguish Jews from the State of Israel," she said. "Judaism and Jewish culture are separate from this sort of ethno-nationalist state."

Supporters online have called her speech "brave" and "long overdue," while critics blasted it as "reckless" and "inappropriate" for a night celebrating television.
