‘A Discovery Of Witches’ Season 2 Welcomes New Cast; Plot And Other Details Revealed

“A Discovery Of Witches” Season 2 is coming, and more details about the series have emerged. To start off, a new cast member has been added to the lineup and will be playing Kit Marlowe in the drama series.

Tom Hughes has been chosen by AMC to star as the new character in the show. He will be playing the role of an English playwright, translator and poet during the Elizabethan period. Female lead star Teresa Palmer announced the “Victoria” actor’s addition to the cast via social media on Aug. 2.

“I’m looking forward to stepping into Deborah’s fantastical world to play such a fascinating man as Kit Marlowe,” Deadline quoted Hughes, who was talking about his casting in the series. “With a rich history to draw from, Kit’s darkness and mercurial nature will be a delight to delve in to.”

The drama will continue from the time when Diana (Teresa Palmer) and Matthew (Matthew Goode) went looking for the “Book Of Life.” In their search, they will be time traveling to accomplish their goal, but still there’s no guarantee that they will succeed.

Aside from finding the book, the two are also out to locate a powerful teacher who can teach Diana how to control her magical abilities. The official plot for the second season of “A Discovery Of Witches” was also revealed as a teaser for the fans.

“Picking up from ‘A Discovery of Witches' cliffhanger ending, ‘Shadow of Night’ plunges Diana and Matthew into Elizabethan London, a world of spies, subterfuge, and a coterie of Matthew's old friends, the mysterious School of Night that includes Christopher Marlowe and Walter Raleigh,” Deborah Harkness, author of the books where the drama is based on, wrote. “Here, Diana must locate a witch to tutor her in magic, Matthew is forced to confront a past he thought he had put to rest, and the mystery of Ashmole 782 deepens.”

Release Date And Cast

As per Radio Times, the drama will air on NOW TV and Sky One. However, its premiere date has not yet been announced.

The series will also feature Owen Teale, Alex Kingston, Lindsay Duncan, Valarie Pettiford, Edward Bluemel, Aiysha Hart, Trevor Eve, Malin Buska and Gregg Chillin as support cast members. “A Discovery Of Witches” Season 2 was written by Sarah Dollard and Susie Conklin.
