As the House of Representatives gets ready to vote on the articles of impeachment of President Donald Trump, he has lashed out at the House in a long six-page letter. Donald Trump in his letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi, aired a litany of complaints against the decision of the Democrats.

What are the accusation levelled against him?

Trump has been accused of soliciting foreign interference in the 2020 elections and thus abusing the power of his office. He has been blamed for withholding a vital military aid package to Ukraine as well as delaying a White House meeting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had requested for as he sought the country’s interference in the elections.

But according to Donald Trump's letter to Nancy Pelosi, the claims have no strong foundation

In his rambling, grievance-laden letter he called the charges of abuse of power against him as “completely disingenuous, meritless, and baseless invention of [Democrats'] imagination,"

“I write to express my strongest and most powerful protest against the partisan impeachment crusade being pursued by the Democrats in the House of Representatives,” Trump wrote. “This impeachment represents an unprecedented and unconstitutional abuse of power by Democrat lawmakers, unequalled in nearly two and a half centuries of American legislative history.”

As per Donadl Trump’s letter to Nancy Pelosi, he had an innocent conversation with the President of Ukraine and thus the impeachment represents an unprecedented and unconstitutional abuse of power by Democrat Lawmakers.” "You have cheapened the importance of the very ugly word, impeachment!" the letter said

"As you know very well, this impeachment drive has nothing to do with Ukraine, or the totally appropriate conversation I had with its new president," Donald Trump’s letter to Nancy pelosi read.

He went on to add that his impeachment is more like a witch hunt but even during those times “more due process was afforded to those accused” and how the unjustified process is hurting “wonderful and loving members of my family."

He blamed the Democratic lawmakers for "bringing pain and suffering to our Republic for your own selfish personal, political, and partisan gain" and of "turning a policy disagreement between two branches of government into an impeachable offense - it is no more legitimate than the Executive Branch charging members of Congress with crimes for the lawful exercise of legislative power."

"Any member of Congress who votes in support of impeachment ... is showing how deeply they revile and how truly they detest America's Constitutional order," he wrote. He further added that the impeachment is “invalid” and it is carried out, the lawmakers will be “breaking your allegiance to the constitution, and you are declaring open war on American democracy.”
