Raúl Méndez Quits 'El Señor De Los Cielos'
Season 3 of 'El Señor De Los Cielos' will be missing a key character as Raúl Méndez did not renew his contract to return to the hit telenovela. Telemundo

All eyes are on Season 3 of "El Señor De Los Cielos" following the finale that was aired last night. The last episode left many questions unanswered, which was planned as production will be underway shortly for another season that will air sometime in 2015. One of the most beloved characters was Victor Casillas, known as "El Chacorta." The character was the only one that could stand up to Aurelio Casillas and live another day as he was the drug lord's brother. In this final episode of the sophomore season we saw Chacorta survive a crossfire with police but unable to save his brother from getting arrested. Many fans were excited that although he had come close to death he was safe to come back next year with the continuation of his character. It is all unclear now though as Raúl Méndez, the actor that portrayed Chacorta announced that he will not be returning to the series due to difference with Telemundo.

"I want to take advantage of these words to thank everyone for their support and affection during these two seasons of 'El Señor de los Cielos" that you showed 'Chacorta,'" he wrote in a statement. "I can't repay all the happiness that you've made me feel during these last couple of years. Unfortunately, everyone that begins, ends. 'Chacorta' has ended his trip on 'El Señor de los Cielos,' due to differences from both parts. We couldn't come to an agreement with Telemundo, for that reason the character will not be present anymore. Believe me it was a decision that was hard to make, because the love for the fans, like the character is great. I hope with all my heart that you understand that as an actor one looks in every project growth, personally, professionally and economically. Now it's the time to tell new stories via great characters that I now have and we need to take the opportunities that life puts in our paths. We are working on new projects, which you will be part of soon. This is now a 'see you later,' this is a 'see you soon.' Thank you for everything and AARREEE!"

Over the weekend Méndez had called out Telemundo for its tacky tactics on raising awareness for the struggling "Yo Soy El Artista" previewing the "El Señor De Los Cielos" finale. The series is the highest rated program on the Spanish-language network and it is being used to launch and stabilize other shows. The finale for the second season will air tonight and to help struggling reality show "Yo Soy El Artista," the network decided to preview part of the last episode. This did not sit well with "Chacorta" and used Twitter to express his feelings. "What they do with the 'Señor de los Cielos' finale to increase the rating of other shows on Telemundo, what a pity," he wrote.
