Efraín Martiz, father of the "La Voz México 3" contestant Gibrán Martiz, is accusing Veracruz police of the kidnapping and asassination of his son. Martiz even says that authorities revealed the identity of Gibrán to the press even before they had notified the family. "I will not be running away, I am the type of person that in a war like these we need to put family, cousins, brothers, children, so things can get better and to have a better country," he said. "If I had to put my child, oh well, but from here on out his death will have paid off." Efraín belives that Gibrán's death had a purpose, which was to zero in on the violence of México and force authorities to change and make it a safer environment.

Gibrán Martiz, who was a contestant of "La Voz México 3," has been found dead in Veracruz after he was reported missing on Jan. 7. The body of Martiz and an unnamed underage victim were found Saturday nightafter police received reports of a shooting on the Huatusco-Conejos highway. When authorities arrived at the scene two vehicles were spotted and resisted to be inspected and that's when they started firing back. After police took control over the situation they examined the place and found the bodies of Martiz and the other victims.

Gibrán Martiz was kidnapped right out of his residence in Veracruz by people in police officers uniforms. They struggled to take him and forced him inside the patrol and the family didn't know of his whereabouts. Members of the family filed a report with authorities and they claimed to not know what was going on, which gave them the hint that those "police officers" were not real. Gibrán's brother soon posted an image on his Facebook page of the alleged unit he was taken in. This is the patrol unit and its number (20-1178) in which my brother Gibrán Martiz was taken away, and we still know nothing,” he wrote.

Efraín Martiz also said, "If they investigate thoroughly that this is a case of corruption, a sensible case for authorities, this will help to better and clean house from corrupt people, to the benefit of everyone." He also said that his son was an example for the youth for aspiring musicians.
