Helen López Roblero Death: Former Guatemalan Beauty Queen Shot Dead In Car

Guatemala is mourning the tragic death of former beauty queen Helen Lopez Roblero and her friends, who were victims of a horrific crime in the Central American country.

According to Clarin, Lopez and three of her friends were driving on Carmen Fronteta, in Malacatán, Guatemala ---the border between Mexico and Guatemala--- when the white automobile they were in was shot last week. A graphic video shows the brutal aftermath, where Lopez is heard yelling for help moments before she passed away. The former beauty queen was later rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead from her wounds. Alicia Carias and Edwin Esturban also died on the scene. Jose Lopez Castañon was the only survivor.

Authorities in Guatemala are investigating the crime, which was allegedly organized by narcos in the city, according to local news reoprts. Lopez was crowned winner at a beauty pageant competition three years ago in Malacatán, Guatemala.
