Rumors have surfaced that a notorious rapist in Carmarthenshire, Wales is back in town, and this has sent the public in frenzy. However, police have reassured residents that the pedophile and sex cult leader is still behind bars.

The Swansea Crown Court sentenced Colin Batley, then 48, to prison in 2011 after being convicted of a string of deviant sexual assaults in Kidwelly. Batley, who originally hailed from London, came to Wales in the 1990s, and established a "black magic sex cult," where he appointed himself as "high priest."

Batley abused young girls and ran the cult with his wife and three other women in Carmarthenshire, Wales, and utilizing occult rituals to brainwash victims, according to Wales Online.

Jacqueline Marling, then 42, received a 12-year sentence, while Batley's wife Elaine, then 47, received an eight-year sentence. Shelly Millar, who was 35 at the time, was sentenced to five years in prison.

He was sentenced to a minimum of 11 years in prison for public protection (IPP), a form of indeterminate punishment for major offenses that no longer exists.

Batley was convicted of three indecent assaults, inducing prostitution for personal benefit, causing and encouraging a youngster to have sex, and 11 counts of rape.

One of Batley's victims subsequently came forward to say that he assaulted her as a teenager and coerced her to bear a satanic emblem.

Batley was warned that he would never be freed as the group's "evil and manipulative" leader, who grinned and laughed in court as he was found guilty.

With the new sentencing rules in place and the minimum sentence approaching completion, rumors began to circulate in Carmarthen this week that he had been released.

A Ministry of Justice spokeswoman confirmed that Batley is still serving a prison term in Gloucestershire, saying, "Colin Batley is currently in detention at HMP Ashfield."

Dyfed-Powys Police has responded by attempting to calm local residents' worries.

“We have been made aware of speculation and concern in Carmarthen that convicted sex offender Colin Batley has been released into the community, which is not the case,” a police spokesperson said.

“Therefore, we urge people to refrain from posting any further speculation or possibly libelous content on this.”
