Home Depot and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) have publicly denied claims circulating on social media that the retail chain signed a $250 million contract with the agency to allow Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to conduct immigration arrests in its parking lots.
"This story is false. We don't have contracts with DHS or ICE," said Beth Marlowe, a spokesperson for Home Depot, in a statement to Snopes. "We aren't notified that ICE activities are going to happen, and we aren't involved in them." The company echoed this position on its official Threads account in response to the viral rumor.

Snopes also pointed out that the news spread beyond Threads, with users in other social media platforms, ranging from Facebook to Bluesky, also joining the questioning. One TikTok video about the topic received nearly 150,000 views, though that user has since updated their text caption to read, in part, "I'm failing to find credible sources."
@uthighking1 UPDATE: I’m failing to find credible sources about the lump payment. However, we KNOW that Stefan Müller has specifically directed his gICEstapo to target Home Depot’s. They haven’t spoken out against this targeted attack and have allowed their stores to be the backdrop of this terror. I’m glad we are talking about it - the rest of my fury on this topic stands. Come on, man…this is just beyond unthinkable! We need to rise up and shut this nonsense down!!. #highkingrants #unnaceptable #shameful #wearefallen #homedepot #blackout #resist #fightback

Homeland Security also published a dismissal on its official X account with a screenshot of the viral post:
FALSE. DHS does NOT have a contract with Home Depot, nor do we notify businesses of targeted enforcement operations.

This ridiculous claim is just another attempt to smear our brave ICE law enforcement who are already facing an 830% increase in assaults against them. pic.twitter.com/HRmcIdlLSh
As Telemundo points out, the fact that ICE has recently carried out arrests in the parking lots of several Home Depot stores across the country may have contributed to public confusion. For years, people waited there during the day for people to hire them for work. In Los Angeles alone, two operations (June 19 and June 30) across three Home Depot parking lots resulted in 37 detentions.
