If fans see Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston on good terms nowadays, that’s because Pitt had the courage to right his wrongs and apologize to his ex. It has been years since Pitt left Aniston for Jolie, but according to an insider, Pitt’s recent heartfelt apology still had Aniston breaking down in tears.

Jennifer Aniston, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s love triangle has been all over the news for years, but little has been written about Pitt and Aniston’s newfound friendship following Pitt and Jolie’s divorce. Back in February, the ex-husband and wife took everyone by surprise when Pitt suddenly popped up in Aniston’s 50th birthday party. It turned out that he and Aniston are now close friends and that it was Aniston who wanted Pitt to celebrate with her.

It is common knowledge that Pitt’s affair with Jolie started while Pitt was still married to Aniston. Pitt and Jolie’s illicit affair left Aniston nursing a broken heart, but things did not end well for Pitt and Jolie either. As Pitt and Jolie finalize their divorce, Pitt reportedly came up to Aniston to apologize to her for all that he had done years ago.

According to a report, Pitt and Aniston’s confrontation left Aniston overwhelmed that she broke down after Pitt’s apology. “He’s been determined to apologize for everything he put her through, and that’s exactly what he did,” the source said.

“It was the most intimate conversation Brad and Jen have ever had. All the hurt feelings and resentment she’d suppressed for years came flooding to the surface, and she broke down in tears,” the source added.

Pitt reportedly did not only apologize to Aniston for cheating on her with Jolie. He also told his ex that he regretted being “an absentee husband” when they were still together and for being “stoned and bored” much of the time. According to the source, Aniston was quick to accept his apology. Since then, she and her ex-husband have grown closer to each other than they ever thought possible.

At Aniston’s birthday bash earlier this year, Pitt gave his ex-wife a card and a warm hug. What this means for the future of their friendship is something only time can tell.
