Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) is all set to become the first female God of Thunder in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the film “Thor: Love and Thunder.” How will she become worthy of the mighty Mjolnir? According to a new theory, it may have something to do with an Infinity Stone.

After Captain America (Chris Evans) wielded Mjolnir in “Avengers: Endgame,” there was a lot of speculation about who will be able to pick up the hammer next. With the confirmation that Jane Foster will become the God of Thunder in the next film, the discussion now is about how she will get the powers in “Thor 4.”

Jane Foster did become Thor in the comics, and the character in the MCU is following in the same footsteps. According to a new theory, Portman’s character will take the help of an Infinity Stone in order to make the transformation, CBR reported.

The film “Thor: The Dark World” set the stage for Jane’s eventual transformation. The character absorbed the Aether in the film, but it made her sick and had to be extracted out of her body. Will her prolonged exposure to the Infinity Stone have some positive effects?

The fourth installment of Chris Hemsworth’s solo film draws its inspiration from Jason Aaron’s “Mighty Thor” comics. The story in that was about how Jane secretly used Mjolnir to fight evil, but that use gave her cancer. The plot of the upcoming film could be something similar, making the character the first female God of Thunder and at the same time making her vulnerable because of this immense power she wields.

No matter how the plot turns out, there is a lot of excitement about another big female superhero joining the MCU. Cate Blanchett, who previously played the villain Hella, told ET Online that she too is “so excited” to see Portman’s portrayal of the God of Thunder, and she is looking forward to seeing the film with her children.

“Thor: Love and Thunder” will be directed by Taika Waititi. The film will be released on November 5, 2021.
