Sony Pictures has finally confirmed the rumors that have been circulating online about “Spider-Man: Far from Home” this past week. The superhero movie will be re-released in theaters in the United States and Canada with unseen footage that was not part of the previous cut.

There will be approximately four minutes of unseen footage of action scenes in the re-release, CBR reported. The film will be released in theaters on August 29, and it will also be available on IMAX in select locations.

The release date appears to have been chosen to take advantage of the upcoming Labor Day Weekend. The re-release strategy should help boost the box office collections numbers of the film. Marvel previously used the same strategy to boost the numbers of “Avengers: Endgame,” helping the movie edge past “Avatar” to become the highest-grossing movie.

“Spider-Man: Far from Home” is currently the highest-grossing film for Sony Pictures, Variety reported. As of the last weekend, the movie made $1.109 billion from worldwide ticket sales. The previous highest-grossing movie for the studio was “Skyfall” with $1.108 billion in collection.

It remains to be seen if the re-release with the additional content will get the fans excited enough to go to the theaters. So far, the studio hasn’t revealed any details about what the four minutes of action sequences will be about. More details may become available closer to the release.

The film has been directed by Jon Watts, and it was previously released on July 2. This is a sequel to the highly successful 2017 movie, and it quickly became a bigger hit at the box office.

“Spider-Man: Far from Home” is the second solo film for Tom Holland paying the wall-crawling superhero. "Avengers: Endgame" is now available on Blu-ray and digital download.
