Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are reportedly rubbing people the wrong way because of their secretive treatment of their son, Archie Harrison. A royal expert said that the public is beginning to get irritated with the overly coy appearances of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s son in the media.

While speaking with 9News Australia, Tom Steinfort said that it’s understandable how Prince Harry and Meghan might want to protect their son because of what happened to Princess Diana. But he also said that the royal couple has some sort of obligation to share momentous occasions with the public.

“It just … you get the sense it’s starting to rub people up the wrong way a little bit. Particularly in the UK,” he said. “There was the obscuring of the face in the photos, and their constant black and white photos. And I think there was a little of ‘come on, you can have privacy to some extent — but just let us have a look at the baby,’” he added.

Prince Harry and Meghan started to receive criticisms regarding their son’s privacy after they announced that the “Suits” alum won’t make a public appearance shortly after giving birth. Meghan didn’t follow in Princess Diana and Kate Middleton’s footsteps of introducing their newborn babies to the world just hours after they were born.

Meghan opted to introduce Archie to the public on May 8, but only a few photographers were allowed to enter Windsor Castle. And two months after Archie’s birth, it was announced that his christening will also be a private event. Until today, the names of Archie’s godparents haven’t been released either.

ITV royal correspondent Chris Ship said that there’s a reason why the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are “hiding” Archie from the public. He said that the royal couple doesn’t want photographers to make money from their child.

“I get the impression from Harry and Meghan that they don’t want the paparazzi in particular or photographers to make money out of Archie,” he told Express. “So therefore if they can get one picture out via the Press Association or via Associated Press and therefore nobody makes any money out of it,” he added.
