Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been accused of tricking the public into believing that the Duchess of Sussex was not pregnant. The announcement about Meghan’s pregnancy came from Kensington Palace while the royal couple was in Australia.

While speaking with Quest Red, royal commentator Emily Andrews claimed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex tricked the public into thinking that the former wasn’t pregnant by still pushing through with their first overseas tour as a married couple. Markle traveled to the Pacific region amid the Zika virus risk on unborn children.

“They got married in May, and then I heard talk that they were going to go on this big tour of the States in the fall,” Andrews said. “And it was going to be a bit of a homecoming tour, and then I heard the tour had been put on ice. I thought, oh okay, that’s interesting, why?” she added.

At that point, Meghan and Prince Harry’s tour of Australia, Fiji, the Kingdom of Tonga and New Zealand has already been announced despite the Zika virus risk. Andrews said that pregnant women are advised to not travel to the Pacific region due to the virus but Meghan did. “So I thought, she cannot be pregnant,” Andrews said.

Meanwhile, the royal commentator also shared how she and the other royal experts found out that Meghan and Prince Harry are expecting their first child. She said that she got the news on loudspeaker but couldn’t make of what she was hearing at first.

“Then he [royal staff] said, ‘I’m very pleased to tell you all that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expecting a baby.’ All of us frantically trying to call our news desks back home going, they’re having a baby! All quite frantic,” she said.

Royal editor Emily Nash said that Meghan already gave the news about her pregnancy away even before the announcement. When she arrived in Australia, the “Suits” alum was photographed wearing a Givenchy coat, which she left unbuttoned. Nash said that leaving buttons undone is something that the members of the royal family do not normally do.
