“Hotline Miami” is going to soon be released for the PlayStation 4 and will be supported by cross-buy according to the publisher Devolver. Nigel Lowrie spoke with Destructoid at GDC and confirmed that this meant any gamers who already own the title via PS Vita or PS3 will not need to buy it again on the PS4.
"We feel like if the users bought it on a PlayStation platform, they have the right to own it on Vita, on PS4, on PS3," he said. If you don’t know what “Hotline Miami” is check out the synopsis below.
“Hotline Miami is a high-octane action game overflowing with raw brutality, hard-boiled gunplay and skull crushing close combat. Set in an alternative 1989 Miami, you will assume the role of a mysterious antihero on a murderous rampage against the shady underworld at the behest of voices on your answering machine. Soon you'll find yourself struggling to get a grip of what is going on and why you are prone to these acts of violence.”
The indie games studio is targeting the third quarter of this year for “Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number,” the upcoming sequel to the hyper-violent shooter which is also planned for release on the PS4 and PS Vita, Windows PC and Mac.
Polygon reports “Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number” promises gamers an "escalating level of violence" that will play out in the wake of the events of the first game. The sequel will feature a cast of characters with greater depth and include a new "hard mode" difficulty option says the creator.
