When Apple fans were originally discussing the release of the iPhone 5S, rumors led us to believe that that the "S" in the next-gen iPhone's name stood for security. Enhanced security was rumored to be the centerpiece of the iPhone 5S with the inclusion of a fingerprint scanner embedded directly in the iPhone's home button. And while the iPhone 5S design was rumored to be identical to its predecessor, the big update would be the security and true authentication of your identity in order to access the phone. But as the release date steadily approaches, rumored to be following the iOS 7 release will be the debut of the iPhone 5S, however we will not be seeing this notorious finger print scanner.

The alleged key selling point of the iPhone 5S has not been detected in any of the leaked photos of the new device. We have seen iPhone 5S's SIM card tray, its loud-speaker button, and the flex for the home button, unfortunately though, there has been no evidence of a fingerprint scanner. Even with the elusive scanner acting as a great source of intrigue and excitement, it doesn't seem like the enhanced security is going to be a feature of the next-gen smartphone.

However, the iPhone 5S is getting some upgrades, especially to the devices camera. A new report from NoWhereElse.fr has revealed a change in the camera of the iPhone 5S. The iPhone 5S is expected to be released with a 12-megapixel camera sensor with a dual LED flash system to boost the device's capabilities in low-light situations. In addition, the latest leak of iPhone 5S photos shows that the smartphone may in fact ship without the ribbon attached LED flash that was featured in the iPhone predecessors. iDigitalTimes reported that Apple will be including upgraded dual LED flash into the iPhone 5S as a standalone component.

The new inclusion of the LED flash as a standalone component give weight to the recent rumors that Apple will soon disband the Applecare program, the program which serves as an insurance policy, normally replaces whole iPhones instead of changing problematic parts or components. With the change of flash component perhaps Apple is looking to see how their overhauled Applecare program will function.

So with all of these scattered feature rumors, luckily the release date rumors are more cohesive. Given the timetable for iOS 7, the iPhone 5S release date is rumored to coincide with the release date schedule of iOS 7 -- specifically in mid-September.
