Actor James Rebhorn died at his home. He was 65. His agent Dianne Busch confirmed his death. The cause of death has not been specified. He played the father of Clair Danes’ troubles CIA officer Carrie Mathison on Showtime drama “Homeland.” He also played Special Agent Reese Hughes, head of the FBI’s Manhattan white collar unit on USA Network show “White Collar.” He was a Philadelphia native who had a five decade career.

He was memorable for playing the district attorney that sent Jerry, Elaine, George and Kramer to jail on the “Seinfeld” finale in 1998 and also was in “My Cousin VInny.” He also played attorney on “The Practice,” “Boston Legal” and had roles on “Third Watch,” “The Book of Daniel,” “Law and Order” and “Big Lake.”

He appeared in movies such as “Silkwood,” “The House on Carroll Street,” “Desperate Hours,” “Regarding Henry,” “Shadows and Fog,” Basic Instinct,” Lorenzo’s Oil,” “Guarding Tess,” “Independence Day,” “Meet the Parents,” “The Talented Mr. Ripley,” among others. He also appeared on TV shows “Kate & Allie,” “The Equalizer,” “Wiseguy,” “Enlightened,” and “30 Rock.”
