The death of the late Jenni Rivera has rocked fans and members of the entertainment industry. Although the Mexican-American's death came as a shock, her family is dedicated to having her legacy live on. In their quest, it is being reported that the family is experiencing legal blocks in protecting Rivera's good name.

According to XPose, a judge has denied late singer Jenni Rivera's family's request to move forward with a lawsuit against her former manager over a TV show.

The late singer's executors filed a lawsuit against Pete Salgado in September, after he revealed he is working on "the untold story" of his late client for Spanish-language network Univision. The papers, which have been filed in Los Angeles cite that only estate executors and Jenni's kids have "the sole right whether and/or how such information about their mother may be revealed". They also alleged Salgado signed a 2013 non-disclosure agreement, in which he pledged not to reveal "any information to anyone about Ms. Rivera, her family or the company managing her assets".

The site reports that the family was hoping to move forward with seven depositions to gather evidence for the discovery process, but the motion was halted after Salgado filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit, arguing his TV show, titled Su verdadero nombre era Dolores, is an expression of free speech, which is protected under the U.S. Constitution.

Adding more pressure to the suit, Salgado has also challenged the authenticity of the nondisclosure agreement.

The famiily is hoping to get this lawsuit underway as soon as possible so that there is no ties with their own biographical series with Telemundo.
