This past Tuesday, Nov. 22, the Dominican Tourism Press Association (Adompretur) hosted the XVIII Epifanio Lantigua National Tourism Journalism Award, in which 49 journalists and communicators from various media outlets and regions of the nation took part, said reports.

An award went to the newspaper Diario Libre. Daniela Pujols, a journalist for this publication, won the prize in the "Digital Press" category for the report "Cayo Arena, a paradise of crystalline waters and colorful fish." Likewise, the Grand Prix was obtained by the journalist from El Día Anyelo Mercedes.

Journalist Daniel Mercado of Sosuadigital.com won the category for the Northern Region and in the Eastern Region Paula Reyes from Noti Turismo with Paola.

While the young journalist Jess Vásquez Montero from Acento.com.do won the category of Art and Culture.

With the theme "El Morro, the elevation that synthesizes a province," Jorge González of the newspaper El Nacional received the Epifanio in the photography category.

The Television and/or YouTube Reporting line was for the journalist Cristian Santana of the media República Hoy.

Because of his thorough research on the treasures of the province of San José de Ocoa, Alexander Martnez won the Television Documentary category.

The Special Mention was obtained by Génesis Pache thanks to its report on crafts in the tourist poles.

For his years of contribution to journalism and the institution, journalist and film critic José Rafael Sosa was recognized, at the ceremony held in the La Mancha Room of the Barceló Santo Domingo Hotel.

The newspaper El Nuevo Diario was recognized as Outstanding Media.

The president of Adompretur, Yenny Polanco Lovera, thanked everyone who helped organize the yearly award presentation.

This year's jury was chaired by Tony Pérez and was made up of Luis Felipe Aquino, Luis José Chávez, Gustavo Olivo, Esteban Rosario, Marvell Contreras, Aurelio Henríquez, Bolívar Troncoso, Oscar Peña, José Antonio Aybar, José Mármol and Edgar Lantigua, son of Epifanio Lantigua”.

All the winners will receive a statuette, a certificate, and a financial prize. The act was presented by Miralba Ruiz.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, assured that by Nov. 30, 2022, the Dominican Republic will have one million cruise tourists arriving.

He disclosed this and other details in his speech at the PEL 2022 Awards Ceremony.
