Kanye West announced his intention to run for the office of the president of the U.S. While the audience laughed at the suggestion, the rapper appears to be serious. Before running for election, he plans to change his name.
West made his intentions clear at the Fast Company’s Innovation Festival, People reported. He wants to first change his name to Christian Genius Billionaire Kanye West. The rapper said that he will keep this name for a year to make sure people understand what it really means. “It will be on the license plate,” he said.
Talking about his bid to run for office, West said that he will be in the race in 2024. “What y’all laughing at?” he asked the audience. He added that the race will be so easy for him that he will “walk” rather than run.
“What they’re saying is Kanye’s crazy — one and three African Americans are in jail and all the celebrities are in jail also because they can’t say nothing because they’re so scared,” he said.
West promised to create jobs as the president. In what appears to be a bid to start preparing for the race, West said that he will be spending the next two years bringing jobs to both North and South America.
Meanwhile, West’s wife Kim Kardashian has also been politically active recently. Apart from studying to be a lawyer, she has been speaking about social issues at different forums.
Kardashian has been discussing prison reforms with President Donald Trump, which is a subject that even West raised. In a recent interview, she said that she speaks up “when things are not as they should be,” Daily Mail reported.
One of the other issues that Kardashian is interested in is immigration, but she said that she would rather focus just on prison reform at the moment. The reality TV star is yet to respond to West’s announcement about running for office.
