Kate Middleton and Prince William are currently on a tour of Pakistan, where they got to retrace the steps of Princess Diana. In an unexpected surprise for both the royals and their fans, the Duchess of Cambridge was given a feathered cap and cloak as a gift to wear, and this was similar to what her husband’s mother wore when she visited the South Asian country.

During the second day of the British royals’ visit to Pakistan, they went to Hindu Kush Mountains. Both Middleton and Prince William were given feathered caps and cloaks of Chitral Scouts to wear. They were also given a book of pictures, which included shots of Princess Diana wearing the same feathered cap during her visit.

Pictures of the royals wearing the feathered cap and cloak have been posted on Express. Prince William was particularly touched by the gift.

“That’s very kind, thank you very much,” Prince William said after receiving the gifts. “ She is wearing the same hat! Fantastic,” he added after noticing that his mother had worn the same feathered cap during her visit.

Pictures of both the royals wearing different feathered caps and other local accessories have surfaced online, and they both look very happy about the trip.

While visiting the Hindu Kush mountains, the royals also joked with each other. Prince William remarked that his geography teacher would be impressed that he was at a glacier. “ I’ve been very impressed by William’s geography,” Middleton said in reply.

The British royals are also using the occasion to raise their voice about climate change during their visit to the glacier. Prince William said that more awareness about the issue needs to be spread to communities that are “vulnerable,” BBC reported. He added that young people have started to “get engaged” with this issue, but a “positive conversation” is needed.
