The passing of Larry King affected a lot of people, particularly the ones who were used to seeing him on TV shows. Only a few know how the 87-year-old spent the final moments of his life, including estranged wife Shawn King.

It turns out that the 61-year-old, who never really got her divorce from the fame broadcaster, had her final moments with King. She shared those with Entertainment Tonight.

“We were able to do FaceTime in the hospital and it was hard for him to talk, but the one message that he wanted to make sure I heard was, ‘I love you, take care of the boys,'” Shawn revealed on the final moments of Larry King.

Shawn and Larry King had two sons in Chance (21) and Cannon (20). King also had a 59-year-old son in Larry King Jr. from his marriage with Annette Kaye.

King passed away on Jan. 23 at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. His sixth wife, Julia Alexander, initially said that Larry had died of the coronavirus which he contracted in December. However, Shawna said that it was not the late broadcaster’s actual cause of death.

“It was an infection, it was sepsis,” she said. “Well, he was finally ready to go, I will tell you that. You know, he never wanted to go but his sweet little body was just, it had just been hit so many times with so many things and once we heard the word COVID, all of our hearts just sunk. But he beat it, you know, he beat it, but it did take its toll and then the unrelated infection finally is what took him, but boy, he was not gonna go down easily.”

Shawn and Larry were in the middle of divorce proceedings but felt that it would not get finalized because of their partnership.

“In my heart, I didn’t think it was really going to happen and it never did. We were partners in every sense of the way, in business, and in, well, first in our family and then in business. … You know, family is the most important thing, and God,” Shawn King said.
