The race to the White House is on and Florida and Ohio's 47 electoral votes will be crucial to the success of President Obama and GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney.

In Florida, Romney leads Obama by 1.4 percent. In 2008, Obama won Florida by 2.8 points.

According to a new Tampa Bay Times/Bay News 9/Miami Herald poll, Romney is ahead six points, 51 - 45 percent.

"Florida typically is a little bit more Republican than the rest of the country," Brad Coker of Mason-Dixon Polling and Research said.

A NBC News/WSJ/Marist poll shows the president leading the Republican by two points, 49 - 47. Among registered voters, the president leads by three points, 49 - 46.

The poll shows that 48 percent of Florida's likely voters approve of the president's job; 51 percent things are off on the wrong track; 50 percent has a favorable view of Obama and 48 percent has a favorable view of Romney.

A Gravis Marketing Poll shows Romney up by three percent; a New York Times/CBS/Quinnipiac poll shows that Obama is up by one percent and a Ipsos/Reuters poll reveal a tie between the two candidates.

Obama surrogate President Bill Clinton will visit five cities in Florida and on Thursday, First Lady Michelle Obama will stump in Florida in hopes of winning the state's 29 electoral votes.

Romney campaigned in Florida on Wednesday and is expected to return there before election day.

GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney must win, according to history, Ohio to secure his place in the White House on Nov. 6.

According to newly released CNN/ORC International poll, President Obama leads Romney by three points, 50 to 47 percent.

"The race in the Buckeye State has remained essentially the same throughout October, with all three CNN/ORC polls taken in October showing President Obama at 50%-51% and all three showing Governor Romney at 46%-47%," CNN Polling Director Keating Holland said in a statement.

The latest Rasmussen Reports poll of likely Ohio voters finds that the race is tied at 49 percent.

A NBC News/WSJ/Marist poll shows the president leading the Republican by six points.
