A Louisiana man was killed in a car accident on the same stretch of highway road his fiancée died on in the same way just moments prior, officials say.

Alexus Lee, 25, was driving north on the LA-67 in her 2013 Toyota Highlander when her car swerved off the roadway, hit an object and flipped over, killing her. The cause for the crash that killed her is "still under investigation," according to the Louisiana State Patrol.

Her partner, 35-year-old John Collins, was contacted and informed of the crash. As he sped to the scene in his 2016 Chevrolet Camaro, Collins "failed to negotiate a right-hand curve," resulting in him veering off the road and hitting a tree.

Neither Lee nor Collins was wearing a seat belt at the times of their accidents, but "sustained fatal injuries" and were pronounced deceased on the scene. The couple are survived by their 4-year-old son.

Toxicology reports for both incidents are still pending, and the causes for both crashes remain under investigation.

"I love them and I'm gonna miss both of them and I'm gonna find the strength to go ahead," said Collins' father Arthur.

"He loved Alexus as well as everybody else who knew her. To know her was to love her," Collins' mother Sandra added.

Collins' parents shared their difficulties in explaining the situation to their young grandson.

"He understands what happened, and he's just having a little problem comprehending that we can't talk to them. We can't see them, but he understands that they are asleep and are with God," Sandra said.
