Actor Luke Perry was hospitalized on yesterday, a representative of the actor confirmed to CNN. However, the rep did not give more details on the actor’s medical condition.

“Mr. Perry is currently under observation at the hospital,” Perry’s rep told the news network.

Other sources claim that the cause of Perry’s hospitalization is stroke. TMZ, the first media outfit to cover the report, wrote that the actor suffered a massive stroke in his Sherman Oaks home and was rushed to a nearby hospital

When the paramedics responded, Perry was still responsive and was able to talk. However, his condition later deteriorated and doctors decided to put him in a medically induced coma, according to an unidentified source. At the moment, there is no update on his condition other than his rep’s statement saying he is still under observation.

Luke Perry is most recognized for his role in “Beverly Hills’ 90210,” a very popular Fox television series. Perry played the role of Dylan McKay in the Aaron Spelling produced show, which stretched for 10 seasons and ran from 1990 until 2000.

The actor also starred in the 1992 film “Buffy The Vampire Slayer,” where he played as Oliver Pike and as Billy Masterson in the 1997 hit “The Fifth Element.” He is currently a cast member of the ongoing comics-based “Riverdale” TV series, where he plays Fred Andrews, Archie’s (KJ Apa) father.

When news broke about Perry’s medical emergency, fans and friends quickly expressed their support on social media. “Beverly Hills, 90210” castmate Shannen Doherty posted a cast photo showing the two embracing.

“My friend. Holding you tight and giving you my strength,” Doherty captioned her Instagram post. “You got this."

Doherty and Perry’s characters were one of the show’s power couples. Doherty played Brenda Walsh, the love interest of Perry’s Dylan.

Coincidentally, Perry’s medical crisis came just a day after Fox announced a “Beverly Hills, 90210” reboot. The new show will include the cast of the original series, such as Tori Spelling, Jason Priestley and Jennie Garth. Unfortunately, the reboot will not include the onscreen pair Doherty and Perry.
