We are three weeks from a brand new "Mad Men" episode, and rumors, guesses and bets have been in place about what will happen in Season 6 of the cult series.
But as much as we would all like to have a sneak peek at what's coming within the walls of the Sterling, Cooper, Draper, Pryce offices, nothing much is known. There are questions, yes, but not many answers -- all per doing of creator Matthew Weiner, who is notorious for keeping the secrets of his brainchild in sight at all times, onset and in public, and leaving fans to their wild speculation.
Guessing what the poster might mean, or reading between the lines of his very cryptic comments is fun for a while, but that can only take us so long.
"There are things that I do that I think increase people's anticipation," he said. "Not telling you anything is one of them."
Jon Hamm, who plays ad exec and Casanova Don Draper, agrees with him.
"I find it interesting that we've become the standard-bearer for this idea of being secretive. I don't see anybody talk about their season at the beginning, no one does."
"It's not like they came out on 'Homeland' and said 'Oh yeah, this is how it is going to end, tune in!'"
Nevertheless, a few snippets have leaked in, as well as some initial photos. It has been confirmed that Season 6 will be the second to last, and that they will deal with many of the storylines left incomplete. Weiner also confirmed that Peggy, played by Elizabeth Moss, will be returning in spite of the character's decision to leave the firm at the end of the season and reassured fans that Pete Campbell did not commit suicide, saying that it will not "be in Pete's personality to kill himself."
But that's as far as we can go. Weiner did promise that Season 6 will be just as "thought-provoking" as Season 5.
"What's great about this show is every season is different and you never know what you're going to get when you watch it," he added.
Season 6 of "Mad Men" will premiere Sunday, April 7 at 9 p.m. with a two-hour long episode.
