A man was allegedly killed by his friend, who hid the body at his house in Ghansoli, Mumbai. The accused was arrested on Friday by the Navi Mumbai police.

The accused, Raju Harinarayan, hails from West Bengal. He was caught near Igatpuri railway station, police informed. According to Deputy commissioner of police Zone I Vashi Suresh Mengde, Harinarayan had allegedly murdered his 37-year-old friend Nagendra Pandey on July 17. After murdering him, the accused allegedly hid the body at his house, according to Mid-day.

The incident came to light after a complaint was filed by Jatashankar Pandey (victim's brother) stating that the deceased was his elder brother, and he had gone to meet his friend. But he did not return home and could not be contacted on his mobile as it was switched off.

On July 19, a missing person’s complaint was also registered at the Rabale police station by Jatashankar's sister-in-law (victim's wife). Police said that the victim had been staying with his wife and daughter in Ghansoli for the last six months as a tenant.

After the victim's wife, Sunnaina, informed the missing incident to Jatashankar, he went to check his brother’s friend’s house. On arriving, he found the house locked from outside. He also spotted his brother's slippers and umbrella outside the house. He used force to open the window, and was shocked to see a pool of blood inside the house. He immediately called the police and got the door opened.

Yogesh Gawade, senior police inspector from Rabale police station, said that Nagendra's body was found in the bathroom with a dried bloodstain on his body. As far as weapons are concerned, the officer said that knife and iron rod were used to kill Nagendra, reported The Free Press Journal.

It seems to be a case of one-sided love as during interrogation, the accused confessed that he was in love with the victim's wife. According to police, the accused shared that on the night of the incident. He invited his friend home and during a heated argument, he bludgeoned his friend to death and then left the body in the bathroom.

The Rabale police registered a case of murder against the 43-year-old accused under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
