91-Year-Old Beaten With Brick In California, Told 'Go Back to Your Country' PIXABAY

A man was brutally thrashed and beaten to death by a group of men for allegedly stealing a mobile phone in Budh Vihar, north Delhi, India on Tuesday, Jan. 10.

The victim, identified as a 26-year-old man named Deepu, along with his friend Naveen entered a warehouse in Shyam colony, Budh Vihar, Delhi with the purpose of stealing a mobile phone on Tuesday, Jan. 10. Deepu reportedly went inside the godown to steal the mobile phone while Naveen stood guard outside. While Deepu was trying to sneak into the warehouse, Deepu got caught by the three men sleeping inside the place and was apprehended by them. The men have been identified as Rajeev Gupta, Kaushal, and Vishnu, India Today reported.

After finding Deepu sneaking inside the place, the three men inside the warehouse caught Deepu and started beating Deepu with sticks and lathis. The brutal attack led him to get severely injured. According to the police, the owner of the warehouse Sudeep Gupta was also involved in the mob lynching.

After the merciless beating, the trio threw the dead body of the alleged mobile phone thief on the street. Deepu's body was only discovered by the police two days later on Jan. 12 in the Budh Nagar area of North Delhi. The officers responded to the scene after they received a call about a dead body being discovered on the street. They found that Deepu had sustained severe injuries on his back, arms, and legs, DNA India reported.

Following the incident, the Delhi Police arrested four people in relation to the mob lynching of Deepu. Meanwhile, the weapons used in the crime have also been recovered.

Further investigation revealed that Deepu was addicted to drugs and that he last visited his home on Tuesday, Jan. 10, two days before he was killed.

In a similar but unrelated incident, a man allegedly killed his younger brother for reportedly playing loud music on his mobile phone at Mulayankavu, near Koppam, Kerala, India on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2022, as previously reported.

The accused, identified only as 25-year-old Sakeer, reportedly felt irritated after his older brother Sanfar Babu, 40, started blasting loud music on his mobile phone on Monday evening, Aug. 1, 2022. Enraged, Sakeer warned his brother to either lower the volume or stop the music.

However, when Babu ignored Sakeer's scolding and continued playing loud music without even lowering the volume, Sakeer, in a fit of rage, picked up a log and brutally attacked his older brother with it.

Following the brutal thrashing, Babu was immediately rushed to a private hospital with severe head injuries. However, Babu subsequently succumbed to his injuries and died on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2022.
