An Indian man has been accused of battering his wife to death and later disposing of her body in a lake after she refused to cook fried chicken for him on Wednesday, Aug. 18, in Bangalore, India.

Mubarak Pasha, 30, a businessman and a resident of Tarabanahalli in Bangalore, allegedly beat his wife Shirin Banu, 28, a homemaker, to death using a wooden log after feeling disappointed that she didn't cook his favorite fried chicken.

He allegedly proceeded to wrap the victim's body in a burlap sack and dumped it into Chikkabanavara Lake around midnight, India Today reported.

An investigation into the incident began after Banu's parents lodged a complaint at the local police station alerting that their daughter had been missing since Aug. 18 night. Following this, the law enforcement started a manhunt and questioned her friends and family.

Pasha, who was reportedly avoiding the authorities, finally visited the police station on Monday, Aug. 23 along with his lawyer and confessed to the murder.

“I told her to cook chicken fry on the night of Aug. 18. When I came home, I was disappointed to see there was no chicken fry. When I asked my wife, she replied arrogantly and, in a fit of rage, I smashed her head using a wooden log. The children were asleep then. Wrapping the body in a gunny bag, I carried it on my bike at midnight and disposed of it in Chikkabanavara lake,” Pasha told the police officers.

Pasha runs a business selling beds and pillows. He and Banu share three minor children together, according to the Times of India.

The police officers have not been able to recover Banu's body from the lake so far.

In a similar but unrelated incident, a man has been arrested for allegedly killing his wife by injecting a lethal cyanide solution into her saline IV drip bottle while she was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Ankleshwar town, Gujarat, India a month ago.

Jignesh Patel, 32, has been accused of introducing a fatal cyanide solution into the saline IV drip bottle of his wife Urmila Vasava, 34, after she was admitted to a private hospital due to chest pain, Latin Times reported.

The incident reportedly came to light when the police received a forensic science laboratory (FSL) report on Aug. 6, confirming an outrageous amount of cyanide in the victim's bloodstream and ascertaining that Vasava died of lethal cyanide poisoning.

"When the victim was undergoing treatment, the accused stealthily took out a cyanide tablet and made a solution out of it. He then injected the solution into the drip bottle attached to her using a syringe when the doctors and other hospital staff were not present there," authorities said.

A murder case has been registered against Patel under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). He was arrested on Aug. 7.
