A 30-year-old man allegedly severed his ex-girlfriend's nose and cut off her little finger, with the help of his 42-year-old friend, in retaliation for breaking up with him and refusing to move back into his flat. The incident happened in the Dhoraji town of Rajkot district, Gujarat, India on Sunday night, Feb. 13.

On Sunday, the eve of Valentine's Day, the accused, Sultan, alias "Tipu Jaan Maamad Juneja," went to his ex-girlfriend Farzana Malaviya’s house accompanied by his friend Rahul to convince her to move back in with him. However, when she refused, he allegedly proceeded to chop off her hair with a knife and then sat on her chest, before dismembering her nose and little finger, the Indian Express reported.

Malaviya and Sultan reportedly fell in love a year ago. After dating for a few months, she moved in and stayed at his house in Ghanteshwar for some nine months ago.

However, Sultan, who is reportedly an alcoholic, allegedly started thrashing her daily during his drunken binges. After enduring the abuse and torture for many months, Malaviya left the suspect and returned to her parents’ house in Dhoraji’s Ambawadi Colony last month.

However, Sultan continued to pester her, asking her to come back to him. As Malaviya constantly ignored his phone calls and appeals, Sultan, along with his friend Rahul, went to her parent's house in Dhoraji on Sunday night, Feb. 13.

When the accused duo reached the victim's house, her elder sister Kausar and mother Sama were also at home.

At the residence, Sultan again started pressuring the victim to come with him and stay with him at Rajkot. When Malaviya refused once again, a heated argument ensued between the two, and in a fit of rage, Sultan first chopped off her hair with a knife. After attacking her, he also tried to attack the victim's sister and mother with the blade. However, they evaded the attack by running out of the house, the Times Of India reported.

According to Dhoraji Police Station sub-inspector JS Zapadiya, who is investigating the case, Sultan then pushed Malaviya to the floor, sat on her chest, and lopped off her nose and little finger while Rahul held her legs. Even though the suspect proceeded to try and strangle the victim to death, the family's neighbors began gathering at the home after hearing the victim's screams.

Following the incident, the accused threatened everyone present and fled the scene. The duo was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 15, and has been booked for attempted murder, voluntarily causing hurt, and criminal intimidation under the Indian Penal Code.
