Manchester United higher-ups knew it would take time for the club to adapt to the changes that were implemented within the organization heading into the 2013-2014 campaign. Though most of the roster remained on a team that had claimed another Premier League championship a year ago, long-time manager Sir Alex Ferguson was stepping away from his duties at Old Trafford, paving the way for a new boss to take control of one of the most recognizable and popular franchises in all of sports. Key cogs in Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie were expected to contribute on a game-by-game basis but getting acclimated to new coach David Moyes -- who previously held the same position at Everton -- would come with its ups and downs.

The Red Devils are currently sitting eighth in the Barclays Premier League standings and have only been able to muster up 25 points in 16 matches. Struggling at the midfield position thanks to injury occurrences and the down play of Marouane Fellaini -- who doesn't yet look comfortable in his first year at Old Trafford -- first-year manager David Moyes has been open to the idea of improving the mid position during the approaching January transfer window. Current Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus sits as a possible option along with Galatasaray's Wesley Sneijder and while the Red Devils are expected to at least explore these players among others, multiple reports indicate that a Premier League rival is interested in one of Man U's fan favorites.

According to International Business Times, manager Arsene Wenger and the Arsenal Gunners are highly interested in Red Devils striker Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez. The Mexican international star is seeking a bigger role with the first team and because of the simple fact that his minutes played at Old Trafford haven't been to his liking, the 25-year-old could covet a move out of town. Though Arsene Wenger is no stranger to exploring other players, Manchester United in all likelihood won't look to move a player to a league rival, especially one that currently sits as the top team in the standings.

Hernandez may be inclined to mull over outside options but his agent has a strong belief that the El Tri star will remain with Manchester United, noting that his player just needs to receive an extended amount of minutes to be effective.

“I had a meeting with Manchester United's people about 10 days ago and they confirmed that there has been interest from various European clubs but it is not in their plan to transfer him,” agent Eduardo Hernandez said recently. “Yes, they are aware that his impact has been limited but little by little he will integrate more. Against Stoke his pass led to a goal, so all he needs are more minutes.”

It remains to be seen what becomes of Hernandez but with the January transfer period approaching, the situation will surely be one to keep an eye on.
