The long-awaited live-action Barbie movie now has it's first movie poster and a trailer. Fans are screaming as the teaser trailer for Greta Gerwig's highly-anticipated film adaptation of the iconic "Barbie" doll has finally arrived. Here's the first footage of Margot Robbie (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Harley Quinn) all dressed up as a real-life version of Mattel's renowned and dazzling fashion doll. The Warner Bros. film, which premieres July 21, 2023, stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.

So far, little is known about the plot of the live-action film, starring Robbie as the little girl's favorite past-time toy and Ryan Gosling as her boyfriend Ken. However, several official photos of the cast, as well as photos of Robbie and Gosling filming, have already been released. Fans went crazy over the first released pictures of the fashionable live-action versions of the toys. Costume designer Jacquelien Durran brought the iconic styles to life.

The very brief teaser that dropped early Friday shows Robbie as the first Barbie, with her fashionable pinup look - high pony tail, and black and white stripped bathing suit. The gigantic doll is winking at a group of little girls, and looks like a glossier newer version of the toy. Also joining the cast is Shang-Chi actor Simu Liu, who told GQ UK in May how a junior agent as his agency told him Gerwig and Noah Baumbach's film script was one of the best he'd ever read.

The reveal was a 45-second stretch full of dollhouses, posing, dancing, slow-motion, and lots and lots of hot pink. The quick teaser, which show's a world where Barbie broke the tradition of girls playing with baby dolls, also features brief looks at Ryan Gosling as Ken and Simu Liu dancing. Barbie represents the first time the toy has been rendered as a live-action movie.

The film directed by Greta Gerwig (Lady Bird) comes from a script by Gerwig and Noah Baumbach (Marriage Story, White Noise) features a dynamic supporting cast including Gosling, Liu, America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, Ariana Greenblatt, Alexandra Shipp, Emma Mackey, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Issa Rae, Michael Cera, Rhea Perlman and Will Ferrell.

The film is said to have been in development for eight years and has undergone many changes, including Amy Schumer and Anne Hathaway circling the role during the script's previous iterations. Meanwhile, Alethea Jones and Patty Jenkins were reportedly in the mix to direct along the way.
