Has Meghan Markle’s rift with the British royal family landed her behind bars? Well, that’s what “New Idea” claims in one of its recent cover stories.

But, quite like most of its other dubious reports, the publication adopts a ‘bait and switch’ strategy to tease readers into believing that the former “Suits” actor is in trouble when she really isn’t.

“Meghan Busted” reads the title of the cover story which seems to portray the Duchess of Sussex as a trouble maker who had finally gotten remanded for her wrongdoings. But, if one were to flick through the pages and get to the whole story, it would be evident that the story features absolutely nothing about Markle getting arrested.

The misleading cover that suggests there being “shock arrest pictures” inside when in reality, the only thing the story features are a few hackneyed pictures of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. Just in case you’re still wondering where the “arrest pictures” are, well, the media outlet smartly places the arrest pictures of Jane Fonda and George Clooney. Clearly, the magazine thrives on tricking readers into buying stories. And, this one is no different.

What needs to be noted is that “New Idea” enjoys a long-standing repute of being an untrustworthy source as far as running stories about Meghan Markle is concerned. Not too long ago, there were reports that hinted at a distraught Harry fleeing LA from the clutches of a draconian wife. There were also rumors about the Queen visiting California to “set Markle straight”. Neither of these is true, and it’s evident that the Queen hasn’t had any face-off with Markle amid the pandemic.

Meghan Markle has been a topic of tabloid fodder ever since she married into the Royal Family in 2018. Two years later, and an official stepping-down from the responsibilities, Meghan still manages to capture the fancy of questionable tabloid outlets.

Meghan doesn’t have issues with Kate Middleton, neither is she going to be divorced by Harry. It’s about time rumor mills give the couple a break, and concern themselves with matters more relevant amid a global health crisis.
