A McDonald's customer in Iowa may face up to five years behind bars following his arrest on Saturday after he confessed to making threats to assault staff and "blow up" the branch in Ankeny because the crew had failed to include dipping sauces with his order.

The suspect, Robert Golwitzer Jr., 42, has been slapped with a Class D felony charge of making a false report of the explosive or incendiary device following threats made to detonate an explosive device at the McDonald's restaurant at 2625 Southwest State Street in Iowa over the weekend, Fox News reported.

According to the Ankeny Police Department, Golwitzer was upset with his order from the food chain. He allegedly then called the establishment to complain about his order after finding out that his nuggets, which should come with complimentary dipping sauce, had none packed with his takeaway.

The suspect, obviously frustrated with the incident, then threatened staff that he would blow up the 2625 Southwest State Street establishment as well as violently assault at least one of its employees over the mishap, KCCI reported.

The staff proceeded to immediately contact police over the threats, leading to Golwitzer's subsequent arrest the same day on Saturday night.

Police dialed the number Golwitzer used to contact McDonald's Ankeny and looked for the suspect, who was quick to identify himself during the call with authorities. The man in question then confessed to "knowingly, intentionally, and unlawfully falsely" threatening to detonate an explosive device at the restaurant.

Arrest records also indicated that Golwitzer twice admitted to law enforcement that he had made the threats when quizzed about the incident over the phone and later at the police station when invited for further questioning after he was made aware of his Miranda Rights.

The suspect had been booked into Polk County Jail and was released by police on an undisclosed bond by Sunday. Golwitzer is slated to front court for his initial hearing on July 6 at 1:00 p.m, We Are Iowa noted. He could serve two to five years in prison following a conviction.
